WOW! That's a hunt I could see BOTH my wife & I enjoying while combining it with other tourist type activities like a visit to the Louvre!
Any idea how the firearms laws are in France for bringing your own rifle? I'd want to harvest my roe buck with my Cooper.

Hunting in Europe is highly regarded as something only rich people dressed in Filson clothing do.

Europe is huge and that kind of comment is showing you have no clue what you are talking about ...
hunting depending of the country is more like in Canada .... i was part of of hunting related of the land you own in a small village in burgundy and we paid roughly 150 euros for the year. hunting permit was the same price so for 300 euros i had the rigt to hunt on that territory in days decided together. btw we never wear filson and still do not in Canada.
the closest territoy that was private, was 3000 euros the euros plus the fees of hunting permit.
so within a short distance and same size territory you can have a lot of disperancies .... just imagine for the whole continent ....
most of our members were blue collar and no high end people (by the salary) ... and we didnt use high end rifles also ... mostly rem 742 ... and we had 40 boars, 20 roe deer and 4 red deer tags
