Pure tung oil isn't shiny after drying if one wipes off the excess after a while. Tung finishes (sold as tung oil) are. Pure 100% tung oil has better water and mildew resistance than linseed. If one want to stay true to the tradition however, raw linseed oil and not BLO is the way to go - I agree.
