Hi, first post here.
Edited to add more chrony numbers from yesterday.
Before I got a .22LR rifle I tried to find actual velocities for various loads but I couldn't find much. I always like to have as many sources as possible for information so I thought I'd post these.
I got a .22 and a few different types of ammo and ran them over the chrony. Here's what I got. These were all shot out of a Remington 597 rifle with a 20" barrel. All velocities in ft/sec. chrony was about 2 metres from muzzle. The .22 short had to be fed into the mag one round at a time.
The rifle has a bushnell trophy 4-12x40 mounted.

average 1229 ft/sec, 127.6 ft/lbs
CCI short high velocity HP, 27.0 grains.
I ran more of these over the chrony and got different results than last time. So I ran about 20 of them, and the numbers were pretty consistent. Here's one string.

1031
1078
1073
1056
average 1071 ft/sec, 68.8 ft/lbs
CCI Stinger, 31.8 grains weighed

1549
1559
1562
1553
Average 1563 ft/sec, 172.5 ft/lbs (!!)
Remington Yellow Jacket, weighed 33.6 grains.
I had high hopes for these. Accuracy isn't very good in my rifle, and they are less powerful than the Winchester bulk ammo that costs half the price!
1327
1351
1267
1289
1312
1338
1290
average 1310 ft/sec, 128 ft/lbs
CCI mini-mag HP, 36 grains
1272
1287
1291
1300
1279
1304
1297
1304
average 1291 ft/sec, 133 ft-lbs
Winchester Xpert HV Lead HP (bulk pack), 36 grains, weighed 35.6 grains
excellent accuracy for the price ($22/500 circa 2011) but some failures to fire, perhaps 10 in the box of 500. They were hitting in a 4" circle (more or less) off a crude rest (stump) at 100 metres. I will be buying these from now on for my 597. The hollow point is deep like the ones on varminting ammo.
1319
1294
1324
1326
1397
1333
1304
1302
average 1324 ft/sec, 138.8ft/lbs.
CCI Velocitor, 39.6 grains weighed. I was disappointed with the velocitor's MV. The velocity advertised on the box is 1435 fps, and they come nowhere near that. They do have a bit more power and are second only to the stingers in this series of tests in terms of FPE, though not by much.
1279
1241
1248
1338
1232
average 1267 ft/sec, 142 ft/lbs
So there it is, I hope someone finds it helpful. I might buy more types of ammunition and add to this at a later date.
