Now that I can remove the gas lock I tried flipping it to get a tight lockup but it tightens before it gets in place
question #1 if I remove a little bit of material from the gas lock test fitting it until it needs a little tap into the 6 o'clock position is this the alternative to shimming ? Or will this change after fireing requiring shimming more and more with wear ?

Question #2 what is the best way to tighten the oprod guide so that it does not move side to side on the barrel band ? I have seen the preening method with a center punch on here but I would like to know of other methods

Any other tuning advice is appreciated I will chime in with any pic's or information required to answer the above questions

1. If you're careful not to remove too much, it should work fine. edit: it should be finger-tight at around 4:00 or so.
2. The peening method is by far the best solution. I've tried just using JB Weld and it broke easily. A spot weld will work but you risk damaging the chrome lining of the barrel.

edit #2: if you haven't taken it out and shot it yet, do that before you start making any more big changes or upgrades so you have a benchmark for potential improvements.
