My Fabarm has become quite the project gun lately. Since adding the Magpul stocks to it, my mind has been occupied coming up with a way to get a QD swivel socket up near the receiver. I think I've found a way that works quite well, AND would be adaptable to an SGA stocked 870 as well.
While waiting for my metal SGA sling loop to show up, I decided to prototype with the stock spacer just for ####s and giggles. I figured by drilling and tapping the centre of the "sling plate" and mounting a swivel socket there, I'd be golden after a bit of trimming to the S&J adapter (which had the burned loop removed also).
Turns out, it works REALLY well!
A word of caution though, MAKE SURE to check your swivel sockets to ENSURE they retain your QDs. The ones I tried to use are Uncle Mikes brand and they will NOT retain my BFG slings, or even the ones that came with them!
So, I'm waiting an Magpul replacement to go on the metal sling plate which will be epoxied and drilled and tapped together. Unless I get around to getting some made out of one piece of steel. I'm going to see how this works out for now.
While I was tinkering, I came across my factory Benelli M4 safety, and installed that too. Fits good, and the extra size makes it super easy to disengage with the knuckle on my trigger finger. I might change it out with a Dave's Metalworks one, but I like this one quite a bit for now.
Oh, and I added a few 7 round S&J DSCs, and a S&J no jam green follower (870 type 3) and mag spring that I trimmed just enough to sneak 5 2.75 shells in.
Like I said, quite the project gun. And during all this I managed to run a few more rounds through it and the fore end is holding up great still. Even after a few hard Sarah Connor at the end of T2 reloads
