First: First kill with my new Mossberg Patriot Revere 270 Win.
Second: First mule deer
Third: First AB deer
Last: First season I've deer hunted since 2009.

I blooded my new 270 this morning and tagged my first mule deer. I drew antlerless in my first year of applying. I woke up this morning and looked at the time(5:30) and was going to go back to sleep.
At 6:03 I said to myself "you won't fill a tag lying in bed". By 6:23 I was on my way to a corn field being hit hard and at 9:15 five mulie does and fawns stepped into the field about 125 yards from where I was hunkered in watching a well used trail leading from an old overgrown railbed into the corn with roads cut through it for swath grazing. I put the rifle up and picked a mature doe standing slightly angled off broadside and took the shot. The shot looked good through the scope. She jumped into the railbed bush in that nose down butt up way they do when hit hard and to my surprise she jumped over a barbed wire fence. I lost sight of her but I knew she was hit hard. I walked down the field slowly looking and found blood where she had been standing.

On the other side of the fence I spotted a sapling she had hit with a large blood smear and the ground torn up with loose dirt. I unshouldered my rifle and crossed the fence after opening the bolt and placing it on the other side. I picked it back up, followed her blood and track trail down through a ditch and up onto the old railbed. I looked in the direction of the blood trail and there she was laying dead smack dab in the middle of the bed 60 yards away. She had travelled about 75-80 yards after the shot.
After gutting her I took a close look to see where I had hit her and saw that she was double lunged.
I am very happy with the rifle and its performance. Its a Mossberg Patriot Revere in 270 Win sporting a Nikon Prostaff 5 2.5-10x40 BDC and I was using hornady factory ammo 140 grain interlock btsp.
My first AB deer in my first season I even hunted them since moving here 7 years ago.
Looking forward to many more hopefully.
Pic of the two deer looking my way was company that returned shortly afterward and watched me cleaning their friend.

Hey Spank...those are great bullets.
I used to load them up about 2800 fps for my 270.
They sure dump deer over. They never go very far that's for sure

Are you sure there is room in the freezer with all them geese?
