I have a few questions about the vz58, feel free to answer just one or a few it would help me out greatly:)

1. I need a way to get a better cheek weld on my folder.
2. What is the best tactical sling you have found for the folder?
3. Do you think a lightweight red dot would be ideal over a scope for this rifle?
4. Is a permanently fixed brake on the vz58 a bit*h to clean?(in USA)
5. What grip do you find the best? i was looking at the Lichtenberg Research one that mimics the stock Bakelite one, but is black.
i have medium to large hands not freak large just normal.

6. Do peeps actually work on this sorta rifle, or have you noticed it to be worse than stock.
7. Is the surplus bayonet a good piece, or is it just for show, will it cut?
8. i need a but pad for my folder what works?
9. is a closed FSB better than an open? or the same?
10. hows an ak(not svd) style posp work on one of these? accuracy/optic height wise? im thinking of doing this.

Im working towards a fast lightweight rifle, i now have a m-4 project to strap all the goodies to and have changed direction towards working on internal/operational pieces on my rifle rather than aesthetics, but keeping pieces down to a minimum. I'm in line for the Neit parts. i was thinking of opining my front sight so i can get one of those fiber optic sights in there.(closed FSB).

1) CTR with a medium cheek riser if you shoot #3 to fully extended. Or small if you have a short length of pull.
2) QD swivel mount on a CTR stock can't go wrong. In the event of an emergnecy you can quickly remove the whole sling set-up with a push of a button.
3) Hell ya X39 round is designed to be effective only up to 300 meters.
4) Muzzle Break is a pain in th @$$ to clean the ports but it dosn't make the barrel hard to clean. (Brake Cleaner is your friend here)
5) FAB as I have tried almost them all. (This is the only real area I find this rifle lacking in the aftermarket world)
6) Contact NEA for there fiber optic set-up. Once I installed the fiber optic front post hiting a 12"x12" gong is now simple.
7) Get the new version of bayonet if this is what you want to do.
8) AK47 butt pad works great for this application.
9) Don't know what an FSB is?
10) They rock!

Thanks I have a magpul CTR stock, but I can't live without a folder as much as i love the ctr, I have the NEA adapter but don't want to dratically change the rifle and use troy sights and cut the front stock sight off, I'd like to set up the stock and retain the ligtweight and compactness of the folder. I carry it all over. FSB means front sight base :) hence a removable posp or aimpoint, maybe storm works.

1. I need a way to get a better cheek weld on my folder.
No elegant way, but strangely enough I find it quite comfortable and an almost perfect weld. I have wrapped mine in paracord.

2. What is the best tactical sling you have found for the folder?
I'm rocking OEM at the moment.

3. Do you think a lightweight red dot would be ideal over a scope for this rifle?
Lightweight or magnification. Personally, I'd love the new batteryless Trijicon Red Dot on an NEA Gas Block Mount (unsure if it will fit though, I hope so). This would be awesome! Since it sounds like you want simple and lightweight, this would be the way to go.

4. Is a permanently fixed brake on the vz58 a bit*h to clean?(in USA)
I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult; use boiling water and throughly oil afterwards :)

5. What grip do you find the best? i was looking at the Lichtenberg Research one that mimics the stock Bakelite one, but is black. i have medium to large hands not freak large just normal.
Same as you. I absolutely love the FAB grips (Israel Company); they fit perfectly!

7. Is the surplus bayonet a good piece, or is it just for show, will it cut?
It will stab :), super dull and crude... loose fitting.

9. is a closed FSB better than an open? or the same?
Hmmmm... I think this is User preference. But, I like open more as I can bend an ear to make the front sight post look centered. With a closed FSB if it is offset it looks like s**t and bothers me.

1.Paracord wrap or a quality foam pipe insulation is probably your best choice.

2.Depends on what you like, Im using a 2 point right now.

3.Definately, this gun just screams for a one. If you want to spend the money get an aimpoint micro in a low mount, if not maybe a burris or docter MRDS. Youve already got the rail.

4. You shooting non-corrosive? If not i wouldnt worry about it too much, WD-40 is your friend.

5. If you carefully remove the pistol grip plate you will be able to put AK grips on your CZ and then you got all kinds of choice. Its like 5 minutes with a dremel/grinder.

6. I think they'd work fine, Rauch Tactical has a peep sight that would suit your needs.

7. Bayonets are stupid IMO. Get a good knife instead and give the bayonet to your kid or something. Or your buddies kid. I dunno

8. Good luck, i would just find an AK pad and make it work.

9.If your doing co-witness i would go with an open FSB. Closed would be too cluttered.

10. Your going for a fast lightweight rifle correct? Put a nice little red dot on that rail and your good to go. That posp scope+mount is going to add some weight you dont want. Plus the further ahead your optic is, the faster it is to shoot.

new bayonet looks nice... are they pricey?
I'd get one just to have if it wasn't too much.

Links?

Never mind, I see now... it's roughly $112.00CDN (or $1,112.00 if I did it wrong.)

Well i think i helped the cheek weld problem in a major way, i decided to stop by the local hardware store and thought i might give this a whirl, works pretty good a lot more comfortable and i get a decent cheek weld.

i may cover it with some sort of thing like a panty hose or the likes.

cheekrest

previously posted.

homemade from my lawnmover side chute , i never used the chute so i cut it up and heated it and folded around the metal side folder , very comfy and adjustable forward and backward , the best part is it the cheek rest folds over the top cover (see bottom pic) .

i have these pic posted elsewhere but i will post it here again.

as you can see i can reach the selector switch and fire it when folded.

I can't speak from personal experience as I still have the "wood" stock, but I've noticed that all the Slovakians have folding stocks, and I've never seen them use cheek rests.

heres a cheekrest on a FSN01.

can somebody make this wood set? i know they are available from czech rep.
