Every XCR I've seen has some play between the upper and lower halves, just enough to annoy me. The fix is simple.
Cut a piece of thick paper, 1/4" X 1". I used a piece of an American Eagle ammo package.
Hinge open the XCR. Look at the front of the lower, right behind the hinge and in front of the mag well. You will see a flat spot. Place the piece of paper on that spot and close the upper. The play will be gone.
For a more permanent solution you could either fix the paper in place ( I used some thin double-sided Tesa tape ) or for the retentive types, a brass shim would likely work.
