This reminds me of the 60s TV show, College Bowl. Two teams competing by answering general knowledge questions. The question was, how many sides does an Isosceles triangle have? Both college teams gave the wrong answer.

It's called a ballistic pendulum, which is indeded how velocity was measured before chronographs.
