I bought a real nice pre-WWII A.G. Zella-Mehlis* M98 in 9.3x62, from Tradex. The rifle is really nice. It's a very slim, light rifle. Comes to the shoulder, with the bead centered in the express sights. It might shoulder nicer than any rifle I've ever handled.

Question:

What sling is correct for this? The factory sling mounts are quite narrow, and won't accept any standard 'modern' sling.

Can the trigger be adjusted? It has a lot of slack, before the trigger breaks.

If you were one of the people who looked at that rifle, now you know who bought it.

*A.G. Zella-Mehlis = Anschutz

It should have 7/8" sling looks, right? If so you can get a nice sling from Trader Keith's website. I have one for my double and it's outstanding.

That is a good looking rifle, I like them not all DTd and well kept but I must admit I collect more than hunt these days. Enjoy --- John303.

Trade Ex slings are synthetic slings, I like their anti-slip side, especially when it's raining, but in general, I prefer leather for my slings.
I have several different models of Levy's Leather rifle slings. They are great stuff.

BTW, you got yourself a nice Mauser.

Nice rifle! Thanks for showing it to us. About the trigger, it is likely a two stage trigger, and was designed to have the "creep" before the second stage, which is supposed to be crisp. A good two stage trigger is certainly serviceable, if the second stage pull is OK.
If you don't like it, it is a simple matter to pop in a Timney or some such aftermarket modern adjustable trigger.

Now you've gone and done it. Won't be long until you have another one....and another. 9.3s are addictive!

Nice rifle. The fun has begun. Just wait until you hunt with it.:)

I bought a very mint 99%+ STIGA 96 mauser in 9.3X62 from TRADEX, nicest bore in any gun I have ever com across, looked to be unfired! Went to sell it, but could not bring myself to, 9.3's are very addictive I now shoot my 9.3x74R Merkle cape gun, dead on at 40 metre regulated with Norma 230gr Vulcan faxtory ammo, 1" groups open sight 80 to 100 yards I like how they Matted the front top of the reciever ring! The factory Selliot and Bellot 286 SP work wonderful in my gun, give it a try ,very reasonable price on this ammo, and has good velocities unlike weak American loads for older cartridges. Dale Z!

Lucky fellow! nice rifle ;)

I nearly pulled the pin on it three or four times the month before you bought it, but money was just too tight. I'm envious ;)

Ebay also usually has a good selection of Levy's leathers slings, in the 3/4 inch width, at reasonable prices.
