A good .223 to start out with?

I am new to the whole shooting scene and wanted to get a smaller rifle to take out to the range. I have a mossberg 590 right now which is fun for.....well lots of miscellaneous things. I did want to get into some target shooting at the range as well and I think this would be a good size to start. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what is a good one to start with?

If it was for range only, I'd get a heavy barrelled 223. Give us an idea of budget for the rifle.
