After finding another STANAG base for a SIG 550 and fitting a Hensoldt 4X power scope with a 100 to 600 meter BDC fitted it to my SIG CQB and headed for the Rocky Mountain House Range. I have a similar mount on my Classic Green but with a 6X Hensoldt also 100 - 600 BDC. After sighting in at 100m proceded to dust the gongs at 200, 300 meters. After a little fine tuning on the 300 meter moved on to the 400 and 500 meter gongs. easily repeatable 4 out of 5 hits on the 400 meter with the 5th rounds always close. The 500 meter I could aways get 3 out of 5 on target sometimes more. The misses had a tendency to drift left a couple of feet. I would have thought they would drift right but was wrong. With the SIG Green Classic 10 out of 10 at 500 meters is easy but with the CQB it is a bit of a challenge.
I used IVI 62 grain and PPC 62 grain both of which performed well. For the more sceptical of our brethren the spotters and witnesses are JMB and Gopher1
The STANAG mount is a quick on/off and can be removed or installed in 2 seconds. Five seconds if your clumsy. Just push the button on the left side and slide back. It is a little quicker than the lever type as on my Classic Green. Have included a few pics so you can see what I mean.
While I am impressed with the capabilities of the CQB my favorite is still the Classic Green as I do like the 10/10 on the gong at 500. Heard today the range is getting extended late this year and am looking forward to pushing the envelope a little further with both rifles. rigrat
