Please don't jump on me. I am curious of what type of mat is at least somewhat comfy and durable for laying on while shooting in the field?

I use an older self inflate camp sleeping mat. I have also used the cheap sleeping matts that are foam, shiny silver on one side, found at most sporting and camping stores. Thermal protection and easy to toss around.

I am am sure others here have some better options.

What a toss up. Their roll out looks handier but they claim little to no comfort factor. Surely theres something out there that carrys well plus gives some comfort whilest one is sprawled on yonder grassy knowl

I like my VooDoo Tactical shooting mat.
It rolls up fairly tight, it's light and offers some decent comfort. It comes with quick release clips to attach to a pack, has a pocket for my pen and note pad, and has good no-slip elbow wings.
Rugged is an understatement, and it's very easy to clean.

My only complaint is the straps and buckles being a little big. When rolled out, the straps are under the mat right at chest level. If you don't lay them flat, they're intrusive.

The mat does have the "tactical" look, which isn't for everyone.

add; it's waterproof too

Something like this maybe:
Redryder,
I've tried those and in every case I found they've moved around too much and generally wanted to get up
and leave before I was finished my match.Good thought though........

Easy to carry too.
I've got enough crap to carry....she can walk.

Apparently that's how You get to 23,000 posts

that and tagged for interest, and yup and so on

so divide the number of post by months and you get 39 plus posts a day what a waste of band width

(he should be band for a month for just being silly)

we all try to kid around on these sites but his complete lack of understanding boggles the mind,

39 posts a day DOES HE NOT GO TO SCHOOL, OR BRUSH HIS TEETH, you get the message,

(watch the number of hits to my name go up inside joke) and yes I do shoot competitively

mat try murray garner from BC hs sells a nice mat that rolls up, got one and they work,

the only thing that oculd have been better with my post is if the number of posts that i had until then

was

wait for it

When You get to that oh so magic number don't post for a wee while. Just sit back and take in what You have created:dancingbanana:

This is allllll you need to know...

Spend the day in the newb forum and you inflate your number of posts, he's not REALLY contributing that much, he seems like the Walmart greeter of CGN

:popCorn::popCorn::popCorn:

The good old greeting Prost whores who are only trying increase their post count by posting in that section 50 times a day or more.

Well this thread got derailed pretty quick...

Back on track though; OP, I know you selected your mat already, but for those who may still be searching, I would recommend the Paul Bawden Tri-Fold mat. I just received mine and I am very impressed. The quality is great, the mat is waterproof and the non slip surface is very nice on these mats. Great product and great man to deal with!

I went with a tan VISM shooting mat/gun case. It's probably a copy of some brand name mat, but it seems to be built well. I like the double-duty aspect of it. Can be had from Amazon.ca for around $90 or so. Also comes in black and I've seen digital camo on US Amazon.
