A Hello from a Manitoban

Hey there a newbie coming from Manitoba. I have shot guns since I was little and have a dad that felt it was important for me to learn how to shoot. I have never hunted, and do not plan to unless I was ever in a life or death situation, but since I am now of legal age in Canada I have been thinking of starting my own collection. Not only for the practical purpose of self defense but also simply cause I have always liked target shooting and perhaps I can pass the skill down to my kid if I ever have one like my dad did to me. Just a friendly hello and I look forward to learning more through the forum.
