Back in 2012 when the Ruger American series first hit Canada, I bought one in .243 just to see if I liked the caliber. Love the cal and very pleased with the accuracy of this "entry level" rifle but the flimsy forend always drove me nuts with the way it would seem to touch one side of the barrel. Recently, I fixed the forend issue myself by bedding in carbon fibre arrow shafts. Works like a top and added minimal weight to a really light rifle. After I did this fix , it was brought to my attention that Ruger had redisigned the stock for the newer Americans to solve issues with the original design. Just for curiosity , I contacted them to inquire about where I might purchase a redesigned stock. The response was a request for my serial number and an offer to send me a stock thru the Canadian distributor which I graciously accepted. It arrived today complete right down to the recoil pad and bedding blocks. It is a marked improvement over the original. I will definitely be buying more Ruger products .

Nice to hear cause Winchester sure didn't stand behind their product when I contacted them on a matter.Harold

Over the years, I have had bad experiences with most major brands, EXCEPT Ruger... years ago I began a gradual "sell off" of all the others... now, other than Browning shotguns and a couple M70's, all I have left are Ruger products...

Big ruger fan for hunting stuff. PR rifles not so much. Am currently waiting over a year for a part from the cdn distributor. Beginning to lose faith in the customer service of the cdn distributor. A year in they tell me they forgot to order the part after many emails from me checking on progress over the course of the year.

Did you deal with Carol?

Korth is Leupold, Snapshot is Ruger.

Are you sure? If anybody would be, you would be, but I just went to the Korth website, and Ruger is listed under "our brands". Also I chatted with a guy from Korth at Italian Sporting Goods a couple weeks ago at their Xmas sale. He said they front Ruger, too.

I don't personally know beans about it. Those are the sources I'm working from.

Maybe Korth handles Ruger also? News to me... Ruger USA refers people to Snapshot.

My experience with Ruger has also been good. When I first got my SR1911 one of my mags wasn't feeding properly. I contacted them and they were very helpful and sent me a new mag. As it turned out their mag had come with a warning label on it and a little piece had got stuck on the inside of the feed lip. Cleaned worked great afterwords. I have 3 rugers which I work hard and that is the only issue I have had with any of them. Oops the 1911 mags did fail at about 500-600 rounds but original mags from most suppliers are not very good so I don't hold that against Ruger. With better mags she runs like a sowing machine.

Korth just started selling some ruger stuff earlier this year.

They have a good selection of single six pistols and guide guns...

Ruger parts and service @ Snapshot; 1-450-427-0052...

Carol has always been super efficient with me, but shooter1971 has not had the same experience.

I had a Ruger 10/22 years ago(loved it too). Loaned it to a relative and their home burned to the ground with my Ruger inside.

We recovered the metal and remaining wood. I wrote an inquired about the cost of a new stock. They replied and said ship the bbl, etc to them.

They returned to me a completely unblemished gun at no cost.
