Just a story for those of you with non shooting wives/girlfriends.
Took my wife shooting yesterday for the first time; had a .22 semi auto and my SKS. Just an informal range - never really shooting beyond 50yds.
She shot 5 rounds with the SKS and tried the .22 for about 10 rounds before she declared "it just doesn't feel like shooting a real gun" and spent the rest of the session shooting my SKS.
She's gone from being worried that she'd be too scared to shoot (afraid of the noise, the kick, might hurt someone) to wanting her own rifle. In one session of about 100 rounds.
Once she figured out that the "notch at the back" had an effect on point of impact (not just the sight at the front) she was getting the rounds well on target!
I figure a wife that wants to spend money on guns is less trouble than a wife who is lukewarm about the whole thing. Today's an ideal day to suggest a couples trip to the range.
Happy Valentines day Red Rifles.
