Hey folks. Just thought I'd share:

I received a sporterized No.4 Mk 1* from a friend of mine who got out of the firearms world altogether. He no longer hunts and wished them a good home.

I had a look at it today:

It's a 1943 Longbranch with serial numbers beginning in 4.
Has a nylon green sling. There is a barrel brush attached to nylon cord in the buttstock.
The rear sight says MK II I believe and is a peep with a sighting system that folds up and has an elevation adjustment.

There are double crowns stamped on it. There is also what can only be described as a small man bent over with a turtle shell on his back (I have no idea what it is) right beside a 43.

Take a picture as I have no idea what it is either and seeing it may help.

I'm in Etobicoke. If we're close and you want to bring it by and have a coffee and a chat, that's cool. If not, take some pictures. I'm pretty knowledgeable about Lee Enfields. Lawrence

A Long Branch logo? 43 is the barrel date. The Long Branch logo is a "L" with the "B" joined to it.
