This nice little 1898 LEC I carbine recently followed me home. It is fully numbers matching with a very good bore and it's original wood furniture. I am not familiar with the "\A/" in a circle mark on the receiver ring and the knox form and would be most appreciative if someone can identify it. Any information regarding the markings on the regimental disc would be equally appreciated.

\A/ is the mark of War Assets Corp a crown corp set up to dispose of surplus after WW2. It is a C enclosn A w and A.ig

Nice! I might have seen this carbine before, or at least its twin.

The War Assets Corp. marking is interesting in that with 'The Great Purge of 1924' all obscolete weapons were supposedly removed from stores and disposed of.

So where had this one been hiding to be surplussed out after the second war?

Deciphering the markings on the stock disc will tell us a lot.

It would be nice to know more about it's service history and the regimental disc should help fill in the blanks.
I doubt you have seen this one before. It recently came out of Cape Breton Island.
