Why does Browning charge quite high prices for their O/Us and yet supply them to the buyer in a 'beautifully crafted' cardboard box.? Virtually every other manufacturer supplies a fitted plastic case with their guns. The cost to the manufacturer for the cases would be minimal and would certainly be good for customer relations.!! JMO.!!

LOL....

My Franchi is an awesome gun, but the orange plastic case it came in just screams husquevarna chain saw.

Meh. The case just sits on top of the gun safe anyway.

Les Baer makes some of the finest 1911 pistols in the world, and they too ship in a carboard box.

Buy a 10K Accuracy International, cardboard box

Buy a 4k HK 416, cardboard box

Buy a 7k Barrett AR, cardboard box

The fancier the gun, the less likely they are to give you a box from my experience.

There's a certain assumption that if you want a gun that nice, you probably have a specific case in mind anyways.

I prefer a cardboard box. Don't feel bad about throwing it out. As long as it arrives safely into my possession, it served its purpose.

Because that way they can sell you one of their "signature" series cases in a style and price range of your choosing. Most shooters I have met set aside the plastic cases that come standard with some o/u's and replace them with units that are much more heavy duty anyways. I wouldn't exactly call the factory supplied cases the Beretta 687 combo and Rizzini Fierce 1 trap guns I purchased new quality units and one had the name Negriini on it. Felt pretty cheaply constructed to me. Not like the Browning travel vault or Pelican cases I replaced them with. Now those are tough cases!

The best case I have that was included with the gun is the one that came with my Beretta 682E Gold. The case is well lined and even includes fabric sleeves for stock and barrel protection. I do realize that purchasers of high end guns will purchase a case more in keeping with the gun as opposed to a moulded plastic item but it would be great if the choice was left to the purchaser.!!

Most cases that come with o/u are made by Negrini although I believe Americase is making them for Krieghoff. The factory-supplied cases are good for most uses but for flying a Pelican is the only case I'd trust not to be destroyed by baggage handlers.

One of the reasons I bought Pelican is because often the back seat of my truck is full when travelling to a shoot and if I have a passenger I cannot put the gun(s) on the passenger seat so into the truck bed they go.

Negrini is now making the cases for the Krieghoff shotguns. That being said, my K-20 three barrel set came in an Americase, and it is well made and tough.

The americase new with shipping and the exchange is closer to $800. Great case but out of my price range.

I bought an SKB case for my O/U with the sub gauge tube compartment. Shipped to my door after exchange for about $415. They say they are airplane rated, not sure about that but it works great for what I use it for. Holds my tools and wenches too.

I'm running an SKB i-series case for my Browning XT. It works great and I don't have to worry about bumping it around in the back of my truck. It's essentially like a Pelican case.

I got mine on Amazon out of the states for like $200 a couple years ago.

Americase makes a tough product. I had one for a three barrel skeet set and it was a heavy beast to carry around. Was the switch to Negrini recent? I've only seen the logo'd Americases for Krieghoffs.

Kolars always came in an Americase and are also available in a Negrini case. Both will cost you around $500 CDN or more.
Is Negrini an option for the Kolar or have they switched too? Their site only mentions Negrini.

I have 2 Negrini cases for guns I bought at Joel Etchen's and while I prefer them to the standard hard plastic Beretta cases because I think they protect the gun better than the standard case (softer materiel inside) I'd never use them to fly with the gun. I'm not sure how they justify the price of the Negrini but it's my opinion they're nowhere near as sturdy as the Americase.

I'm not a fan of Pelican for everyday use to and from the local range because they weigh a ton empty but if I was going to fly with a gun it's what I'd use!!

The new Krieghoffs that I looked at had Negrini cases, bit most others had Americase so I am thinking quite recent. My K-20 three barrels set felt so heavy that I weighed it, and it was 30lbs cased.

Last time I spoke with Kolar regarding cases, they were switching over to the Negrini case. Since that time, all I see are the Negrini cases, which the trap guys prefer. I've had some discussions with some of the skeet guys and they prefer the Americase because the Negrini flops over when you take the receiver and wood out and the case becomes top heavy with the sub-gauge tubes still in the top. I would expect that you can have whichever one you prefer.
