Hey Guys

I got this upper last week pretty cheap and I'd like to get a lower and
do some shooting. My knowledge about AR-15s is limited to what I
remember from episodes of SWAT back when I was a kid.....

I thought I could buy any old lower and slap it on, but after reading
the FAQ at Bighammer I think what I have is a small hole upper.

Does that mean I should get an offset pin adaptor as most lowers
are now large hole?

Also I'm a lefty, will I be getting brass in the face since this upper
doesn't have the built in case deflector? Not that I'm afraid or
anything, I just want to mentally prepared

Only mid-80s Colt rifles had "big hole" anything, and as far as I know they've all but stopped that crap. Your upper will fit on any modern AR lower.

Lefties were the reason the brass deflector hump got put on the A2 receiver style but try it out first and see. You can always move the barrel to a new upper.

I always enjoyed Tour of Duty when it was on. I was told they stopped running it about the time I moved up to High Def, some guys have all the luck. I liked the early versions and the end when they started to carry different weapons. One guy carried a S&W 76. I shot one of them when it was legal, worked well but couldn't hold a candle to my friends early UZI. The UZI was an early one with the small cocking handle, and the detachable wood stock. The only problem I had was with the writing everything was in Hebrew, I wasn't sure which was safe.
