A Nice 240 gr. 44 mag load

hm, must be me. I find the consistent push of H110 more comfortable. Guess that is why there is more than one powder lol

Possibly. I don't understand how a load with less than half the powder going a few hundred FPS slower can kick more, but who knows. I'm also not sure that H110 is more consistent at all; I have far lower SD and ES with faster powders.

You should try my IPSC 40 load. 200PF and the gunshoots softer, and recovers better with less muzzle flip than the 170PF loads.

Internal ballistics.

In my Ruger Super BlackHawk, I've tried 5 grains of TiteGroup under a 240 Missouri Cast bullet. Fun to shoot, except for the lead to get out of the barrel every 100-150 rounds. And the smoke bothers me a little. I'm not very enclined to breath lead fumes..

I tried the 240 grains CamPro over 8 grains of HP-38. I've shot some great group at 15 yards with it, offhands. Velocity is probably around 1000fps. At 25 yards on somekind of rest (snowmobile seat), I can get 2-3 inches groups without a problem.

The same bullet over 23 grains of H110 shoots as accurately and really get the attention of the crowd!!

Funny reading all the suggestions for full power loads with H110, etc. - a lot of people obviously didn't bother reading the OP's post.

OP: A 240gr bullet over 9-10gr. of Unique makes a nice mid-power target load that I've found to be accurate. Next time I'm loading some mid-power 44 loads I'm going to try 7-8gr of Titegroup under a 240gr bullet.

Of course we did... and looking for light loads in a 44mag makes as much sens as trying to drag race a Prius or asking for the best tips to improve fuel economy at the drag strip...
- Nothing wrong with asking, but don't act surprise when people look at you funny :p

Fill to base of bullet with Trail Boss. Lots of low recoil fun

I'm loading 6.2gn of Trail Boss under a 240gn lead and 240gn Campro's bullets. Guessing maybe about 900fps. So much fun!
At 6.2gn you'll get approx. 630 rounds from a 9oz container of Trail Boss. No danger of double charging, because powder is so bulky.

A real wrist twister of a load in my Ruger Super Blackhawk is a 240gn Hornady XTP propelled by 24.5gn of H110.
Gives me 1800fps in my Marlin 1894 44M/44Spl, have not chronoed load thru the Ruger Super Blackhawk.
