Hi everyone,

Just got back from a summer camping trip with the family. Fun time, even if without any Lee Enfields :D

Anywho, back to reality, CGN member burnt45 visited today with his No1MkV (yes, I am jealous). I took it apart and took some pics. We fixed the loose butt stock. Quite a treat to see this rare girl. Matching number on forend, bolt, receiver, barrel, and mag. As mentioned in another thread, missing the stacking swivel and got the wrong safety thumb piece. Other missing parts in the pictures are simply around on my table awaiting reassembly ;) Thanks burnt45 for your visit and bringing a few of your prized possessions.

Lou

A quick question for you since you certainly seem to know your way around Enfields...

I recently bought a Lithgow No.1 MK.III*. It's in great shape, all numbers matching, nice wood etc. But I noticed I am apparently missing something: The metal cap thing on the end of the top front handguard in this pic:
http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/jj180/louthepou/No1MkV Lee Enfield/Picture075.jpg Just behind the nosecap. Not the front band, I mean the metal piece apparently attached to the top handguard. Is this an easy part to find/install or do I need to look for a new handguard?

I assume it's no big deal but it's going to bug me having it missing...

It's an important part if you want to keep the handguard intact. Springfield Sporters in the US sell this part (and the 2 tiny screws that hold it in place).

PM me, I may have a spare but I'm not sure!

Lou, thanks for your time, it was nice to finally get all my LE's checked for headspace. Maybe next time, we'll have a chance to fire a few rounds........ maybe at the EOHC military shoot?
