Ask yourselves: If a semi auto, open bolt sten was approved, then why wouldn't he show us the FRT # to verify that? I believe I put it on my sten thread in the very first posting, so that people knew I wasn't dicking around with prohibited material. Or was this gun an open bolt sten registered as a closed bolt sten?
Or you could ask yourself: If a semi auto open bolt sten was approved, then why was a supposedly legal approved gun being sold on CGN by a shill seller from the USA.
And, if neither of those questions made your spider sense tingle, you could ask yourself if you were really comfortable buying guns or gun parts from a guy who seemed to have an endless supply of kits that just aren't normally available in Canada. Or if you were happy buying stuff from a guy who didn't even have the good sense not to post photos and video of himself shooting prohibited or at best restricted guns in his yard. Not to say that this doesn't happen occasionally in Saskatchewan or elsewhere, but that you don't advertise it on an open forum.
I would love for the open bolt sten to be an approved gun, but quite frankly I believe that the open bolt sten simply lends itself to easily be made full auto. For every step you take to prevent it from being so, there is always an equally simple step to make it FA. I have gone through the hoops and steps to get a semi auto closed bolt approved, and that was tough enough. I don't think that getting a open bolt sten approved is going to be any faster.
Of course, your mileage may vary.
