Question....

I have a Sauer and Sohn .38 SPL revolver, Model VR4. The cylinder release is jammed and the cylinder will not open. I did remove the plate to access the working internals. Noth was obvious and I put it back together and it worked. I cleaned it, put it away and when I took it out of the safe recently, same problem.

I am not a gunsmith and was wondering if anyone has a workable solution, or should I should I seek the expertice of a gunsmith?

"...ejector rod..." Yep. That's not unusual for this design. S&W revolvers it's a copy of do it too. Use a popsicle stick or similar high end tool to hold the ejector rod still and turn the cylinder to get the rod in far enough to open the action. Then tighten the rod finger tight.

Tried tightening the ejector rod. It wasn't loose. I t is as thought the release button is catching on something as you slide it forward. With the side plate off it works flawlessly. Put it back on and it at first works and then myteriously won't release the cylinder.
