A question about Parker Hale 1200 bolts

Does anyone know anything about the Parker-Hale 1200 Safari? I have one in 30-06, no real attachment to it other than it belonged to my father (the thing is a tack driver though, I will give it that); I took it out hunting last year and had a nice buck in the cross hair, ***CLICK**** was all she said. The firing pin is not making contact with the primer; I know the last time I cleaned it, the striker assembly at the rear of the bolt got turned so that the lug went into the notch at the side, the striker moved forward and the firing pin was extended out of the bolt face.
I guess my question is, when I got the striker pulled out and rotated again (a ##### of a job, by the way), is it possible I turned it the wrong way? Is there something threaded in there that, if turned the wrong way, would cause the firing pin to be pulled too far back?
Never had any problem with it before.
Anyone else ever run up against this?
Ideas?
Solutions?
Thanks,
Lupo

Only thing I can fathom is either your firing pin is broken, or you didn't thread the shroud/firing assembly all the way into the bolt. It has to be rotated 4 1/2 times before locking fully.

I can't imagine that the firing pin is broken, nothing has happened to it and I haven't found a broken piece; I will take the bolt out and turn it, but it's a hell of a job to get it turned (if you imagine a Lee Enfield bolt, how you can turn the striker piece and expose the firing pin then pull it back out and turn it again with ease, this is kind of the same but very hard) I just wanted to hear someone else chime in before doing that.

ah ha... I think I got it; I don't have anything I can use to look down the barrel and confirm, but I'll take it to work in the morning and try a test shot. Thanks for the advice.
