I recently purchased a gently used older, non-railed 226. I am wondering if it can accept any of the Hogue grips out there that will fit the other DA/SA 226's. I am specifically looking at the g10 piranha grip. I got a chance to fondle a 226 extreme not too long ago and was very impressed. I would assume they would fit no problem, but you never know.....

I would think this has been attempted before and YouTube has lots of how-to videos with newer models but I can't find one with mine. I just want to be sure. Anyone know for sure?

You bet it will, as long as you have the plastic mainspring seat. You can check easy enough by taking off the grips. If the spring that is along the back of the frame is sitting on a plastic seat you are good to go.

If it is in a metal seat, you will have to replace the seat, spring, and strut to the new style. It is a very simple procedure, and then you are good to go with any new grips.

Unless you're going to E2 grips, you shouldn't have to replace anything. In fact, the older style standard grips don't fit so good over the new parts.
