That , sir, is the fabled "English Tickler." Designed in 1842 by the eccentric Lord Pompadour Smythe-Tickler.

Sadly it failed to live up to it's potential and the market became dominated by the more commonly known "French Tickler." Apparently the burlap chafed excessively.

Lee-Enfield Rifle "Grouper"http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?p=712892

The center hole of the grouper was fastened around the large center pole of a bell tent, then up to 12 Enfield rifles were secured onto the individual loops of the grouper.

I've added it to the Enfield Rifle Accessories section of the MKB (Milsurp Knowledge Base).

She'd never let me out of the house with them. I think she sleeps with one eye on them and her Wnchester 1300 "Defender" under the bed, just in case...

BTW, the "grouper" pictured is marked "B.H.& G. Ltd 1956" and "091". It is also marked with the British War Depatment "Broad Arrows". If any of you guys can find more information on this British leather manufacturer, it would be appreciated, plus I'd sure like to find a picture of soldiers using this thing in their tents.....
