I just recieved my new scope for my norinco, and I was installing it along with the arms 18 mount, The mount installed with out a hitch and seemed to fit like a glove.I then installed the scope using weaver mounts and everything looked good. Then I had a thought why not use my boresighter using the arber for the 45+cal.and check if everything is at least close,I relise that things would not be on the same plane but it should tell me if I am at least centered.(yes/no?) I found that I had in deed got the cross hairs more or less vertical first try, just a very miner tweak.HOWEVER it shows that the crosshairs are at least 1/4 to 3/8 in.off to the left of the qrids and I mean off the qrid. Now my question is is my mount that far of or is the whole boresight thing with the flash hider as the center totally useless or what.:

I'd just make it easy on yourself and nab a magnetic bore sighter at your local gun store, hopefully 15-25 bucks is not too much and it will get you on paper.

A small piece of broken mirror on a popsicle stick is even cheaper and methinks more effective.
Point boomstick at round target
Open bolt
Look through bore with mirror
Align crosshair with image seen in bore
First round on target at 200 yds ! :D

I don't know what the tolerances are for the end of the flash hider or how consistent they are from one rifle to the next, but I use a Leupold magnetic bore sighter on my Norinco M14 and it works fine.

I guess the point I was trying to make is this.if the cross hairs are of the grid by that much the mount must be way off bore center line (yes/no). I have bore sighted 20 or so rifles over the years and all have been on the grid.and on a 3ft square at 100 yards.what I am seeing here makes me think its going to be a couple of feet or more off of that when I sight it in at the range,I am concerned that its going to take major adjustment with the windage knobs which is not good.
