Hi,

Been a while since I posted anything in this section. I'm still a milsurp lover, but most of my attention is in target shooting these days. This past weekend I got to mix up both and it was a pretty special day. My club, the North Nova Highlanders Military Rifle Asscoiation has an annual military rifle shoot at the Camp Debert Range. It's the oldest match in the area. Too bad we can't attract some more shooters.

I didn't have anything to shoot so I borrowed my buddies DCRA rifle in 7.62. My first target was sloppy (28 of a possible 35) and I blame some of that on trying to use a standard web sling without the target swivel in front of the trigger guard. We shot 300, 500 and 500 so after a shakey start I put my target sling on and then the rifle was able to shine. It was the first time I shot a rear peep with a front post but it felt good and I shot a 31 and a 33 at 500 for a total on the day of a 92 out of a possible 105. I think with another date or two, me and the old girl could do a fair bit better.

It's not the glory days with 50-100 shooters waiting their turn, and no one got chaired off the range, but for a minute or two I was back in time and felt what it must have been like. Adding to the fun was shooting head to head with a real friend and shooting mentor. It was truly the best day of shooting of my life. Such fun.

I'm up in Miramichi - I'd have come back to Debert for that one... didn't hear about it. So many great events, but no central place to post them. (and not everyone is on CGN).

Edit: I've just started posting Miramichi Events on the CGN Calendar, but it looks fairly disused, so nobody will look there :)
