This is a request to anyone who has attended the M14 clinic or even Hungry himself. I have downloaded the video of the clinics available at milsurps.com, however, its difficult to hear and tricky to see everything that's demonstrated. I'd really like to attend one ( however i doubt he'll be in Newfoundland anytime soon!) so if someone who has attended the clinic could maybe share their notes, along with the suggestions for a beginning M14 enthusist given by Hungry it would be greatly appreciated!! someone really needs to write a book on all this! Cheers!

PLease note that i do understand the amount of work required in producing those video's and the amount of work in producing a written substitute. i will forever keep the video's in my library as refrence, and am greatly appreciative to anyone who offeres up a written component. i think once it become available it should be stickyed for future Newb's and old pro's alike. thank you in advance

If you do a search, somewhere in the Battle rifle section there is a short but detail packed video of one of my M14 seminars.

I am also working on a PROFESSIONAL GRADE/COMPREHENSIVE Video/DVD about tweaking and tricking out the M14.

But don't hold your breath waiting for that video to hit the market any time soon.

I am officially "retired",
which means I simply do not have enough time to do all the FUN things I want to in any given day. YEP, this being retired business is turning into a full time job.

PLUS,
this summer the wife has me starting out with horsie back riding,
oh boy!!!
So the gun stuff has taken a lower priority.

PS: There is already a book with EVERYTHING you need to know about the M14 rifle.
EVERYTHING!!!!!
Jerry Kuhnhausen wrote it years ago.
The book is available from several sources in the US.

PPS: The M14 is a big black hole, aka a MONEY PIT!!!
Hard to say if they are worse than a sail boat,
but they can come close.

My advice to you would be to forget the M14 and find yourself a mistress inmstead .... more fun, and probably cheaper in the long run.

the kuhnhaussen book is excellent, as is the Scott Duff approach (m14 owners and match conditioning guide) the Duff book is orderable thru brownells. Now bear in mind, Kuhnhaussen and Duff are writing about the US M14 rifle and the M1A (duff) so what works for some parts of those rifles may or may not work for thier equivalent chinese part, some of the time hehehehe

there is currently no authoritive work on the Chinese M14s/m305 in print and no online, step by step, maintenance and match conditioning reference specifically pertaining to the chinese product. CGN's, main battle rifle sticky threads and the videos of Hungry's clinics are pretty much it. Nearly every imaginable scenario for the "chinese" m14 glitches, malfunctions, failures, upgrades, accessories ect has played itself out here in the main battle rifle forum over the past few years. In addition to all the great work many folks have contributed to the stickies, the clinics by Hungry and myself and the many threads dedicated to this rifle..... the information is all here.

I have a professional HD video/CGI production company at my disposal, currently producing music videos for some big name canadian acts as well as CGI and animation for several popular movies/tv shows. I will be filming several "chinese m14" oriented "self help videos" that will be hosted to the new website coming soon. I do not yet know what costs will be incurred if any, but we have talked a great deal about doing some pro shooting videos and hunting/fishing videos. Helps when your son is the owners best friend hehehehe

also, if Hungry can add a vancouver area clinic to his next rotation, I will pull all the strings i can to have several camera operators, lighting ect, to film a comprehensive, edited version of the Hungry m14 clinic ;)

Well, in summary:

... that's good; .... that's bad; .... look here. See it?; whack that; leave that alone; nah! switch it; See this? Chinese shop class quality control!; save your money, welfare tools; and the famous ..... oh oh oh, here kitty kitty kitty.

Yeah i should say something written specifically to the Chinese M14/M305 rifles as they seem to be most prevalent to Canada and easily purchased here. M14 Doc. I do appreciate all the contributor here on the forum the problem is searching through it to find a solution to your particular "problem de jours", a quick reference guide would be handy. the stickies are a great help no doubt!

I'm still digging through my itinerary for July when I'll be out West with all my M14 tools to do a West Coast M14 clinic! Stay tuned....

There is a book, where they take you trough the complete tear down and rebuild of a Chinese rifle .It includes pictures along the way so as to better understand things a bit better . It was written by gunsmith Clint McKee of Fulton Armory.
The title is the "The M14 complete Assembly Guide" volume 2.
I have all the other books, but this small paper back is my favorite ! ISBN 1-888722-16-9

I purchased some DVD's from Hungry or someone frome the forum here from one of the clinics .
Hope this helps ...

good luck getting ANYTHING into canada from fulton
and.....his book is outdated, a relic really, and probably not applicable to any chinese rifles imported to canada in recent years. personally, i think you'd get more from this site, the people here, the clinics, and the genuine m14 tweaking books.

Watch those 4-legged critters, they take it into their heads to buck at the WORST possible time, and they like to kick, too!!!!:nest:

You might want to leave the M14's in the safe, lest the horse mistake your head for a football and try for a 50 yrd field goal!!:p

You have friends in the states that could purchase the book and mail it to you . It is just a book , not like you are shipping USGI parts across the border.
I agree, while the book uses a older Chinese rifle to build on and the newer rifles that are being shipped to Canada have much improved QC from what I hear, the book is still a good read !
It is the only thing that I have ever purchased from Fulton period,(well my wife bought it for me as a gift). Nothing against Fulton ,just that they are to high $ for me .
