I picked her up on Friday after work and drove 5 hours home with her in the trunk of my car...(perhaps too close to reality of how men bring women home in Russia? ;) )...but she didn't complain...she's long and slender, a real looker...but supposed to be an exceptional worker!...and when I first held her I thought to myself, Now THAT'S a high-class dame! She cleaned up real nice and I can't wait until this winter when we can be alone, snowed in at -40 together, for a couple of months!!!

Don't worry about the long trip. I bought my SVT in Whitehorse then we flew back home to Vancouver.
Nice looking rifle, happy shooting.

Nice one !!

You are going to live your SVT-40. First time I shot mine was at the lake last December. it was -35 C and she cycled beautifully at 1.3 with Chicom surplus ammo.

Nice one. I love mine. Maintain it and you'll find it reliable as anything. That looks like a 40 or 41 with the early muzzle brake, which is what I got because I like the look more than the late muzzle brake.

Accurate too. I was able to get 10/10 in the black on an 18" target at 400meters earlier this spring - and that's the first time I'd shot anything at that distance, so accuracy shouldn't be any problem.

Rugged, good looking, hard hitting, and cheap to feed. Just like any quality gal should be.

F@ck. Thanks a lot... cause now I'm very interested as well. Whats the common price tag on these rifles?

$325-$350 + shipping (sometimes - keep an eye open for free shipping or if your LGS has them in). For a semi-auto 7.62x54R - ballistics in the .308-30-60 range - that's a hard to beat deal.

I also have one of these and I love it. It was the first rifle I ever bought actually. I even picked up a repro scope and mount for it. Accuracy is so so with mine, but that might be my fault. I've never claimed to be the best shot. I've found the accuracy varies from rifle to rifle with these. I have a buddy who has one and neither of us can hit a 14x14 target at 100 yards with his, be we have no problems doing so with mine.
Keep her clean, fire her lots, and you'll have barrels of fun.

...i paid 299$...picked her up in person so saved shipping...but had to pay SK tax...buying in albert-ie would save you the tax...i figure it's a really nice rifle for the price...same with my SKS's...both SKS and SVT are ridiculously low priced for what they are...SKS a short-range scout and SVT a mid-range iron-sight russian 30-06 that is supposedly nice when it comes to accuracy...i have other hunting rifles that are all less than moa with reloads, but that's not the point with these...thinking about putting on a vintage rifle shoot at my place some day...need to talk to the neighbours...but they both shoot! ;) ...can't go wrong...i don't think...
