First my apologies if this has been covered but the search function doesn't recognize sig. I had a chance to play with a 226 the other day and decided that I would like to have one. I currently shoot a 1911 in standard division and am wondering about making the jump to production. Specificaly I am wondering are there any advantages or disadvantages to the sig over the 1911? Show clear, hammer down and holster are pretty easy with the 1911 is there anything I need to know. What are your thoughts opinions thanks Jed

The DA first shot, and follow up SA trigger may throw you off - other than that, I really enjoy shooting my Sig 226 in PPC, IPSC, and ODPL.

If it will affect you, you can also get the DAK model.

:)You will be more competitive with the Sig with the DA/SA in Production than you would a single stack in Standard. Speaking from experience. :)

The top Production shooter in Manitoba shoots a Sig. A couple of other guys do too and they are competitive.

Have a look at the Sig Elite model, it has the beavertail, front cocking serrations, and best of all, the SRT short reset trigger. Sig has also come out with a USPSA model, it looks good too.

I've been shooting the Elite in production since January, and while I'm not very competitive... Its not the guns fault!!!

Currently shooting a P226 W. Germany IPSC and love it. The new Blackwater Tactical comes with the whole package, short reset trigger, front truglo fiber optic sight, rear night sight, bevertail, 4 mags, and to top it off, custom magwell grips which are approved in IPSC production. Check it out for yourself. I just ordered one 4 months ago. Should get it early Aug. They are expensive but excellent reliable guns. The X-5 All Around is the ultimate but make sure your wallet can handle it $$$.

thanks guys I think I might make the jump.
i like the look of the elite as I am a sucker for Rosewood grips
