I've done quite a few alterations to M14 stocks in order to add a QD stud for the purposes of mounting a Harris (or style) bipod. Here's another way to skin the cat, so to speak:

Now all you hafta do is drill out the factory rivets and remount with the supplied screws! I like this easier approach for the newbies to the M14 fun.
Have a look at this other option from Sadlak Industries:

This one is gonna require the drilling out of the stock rivets x 2 and then fiddling around the mounting plate on the inside of the stock.
All depends of your comfort level and which one you want to LOOK COOL Value with. You have to decide what is going to work for you and your tools/ skills / desire , and of course what stock you have!
Any questions on mounting a QD stud on your M14 / M1A stock ? Please, just don't go and start drilling holes in your stock UNLESS it's a USGI glass stock then we can just JB Weld the holes up and paint over the visible filler hole.
Hope this helps fuel the addiction!
Cheers,
Barney
