I have a positive story to tell tonight. You may see my recently acquired Weatherby XXII listed in the "My .22 Shoots Horrible at 50 meters Challenge/Discussion". A problem child since I got it. Capable of accuracy, when it feels like it. It usually doesn't. I declined having a certain other attempt to troubleshoot it, and thank goodness who knows what monstrosities may have occurred had I allowed unfettered access to my baby! I brought it in to Al Simmons in Hamilton. After having it a couple weeks I hadn't heard any news of it so I decided while passing through the area to retrieve it as I have an event coming up requiring a sporter rifle and my CZ was not up to task after being recovered from the torture chamber, still bleeding from her wounds. I was told much time was spent on it and no good results came of it. Testing of many ammos, shimming a pressure pad under the barrel, giving everything in the setup the due diligence once over. I was shown a target displaying exactly the performance I achieved no matter what ammo tried.

This confirms my thoughts on it prior to taking it in, it either needs an expensive barrel cut off and re-chambering operation or a new barrel. I asked the cost of troubleshooting, bracing for another large bill.....
"Twenty five bucks for the ammo, we couldn't fix it."
Now that, ladies and gents, is how an honorable gunsmith handles a case where they cannot remedy the problem! No crazy, permanent modifications performed without permission, only the requested service. No damage due to carelessness. Treated as if one of their own. Certain others should take note of a proper attitude towards customer service, it goes a long way towards earning yourself a good review. I just tell it like it is, no horse manure.
She's lucky she's pretty...
