I had my Marlin 7000 out to sight it in yesterday. I bought it as a replacement to the 10/22. I use to own 3 of them :) I find the Marlin a light very well constructed rifle. The 7000 model I a 795 with a heavy barrel. I mounted a tasco varmit scope for use in the gopher fields. I tried a variety of ammo, Yellow Jacket,Dynapoints and the 333 type. All shot very consistant out of the Marlin. The Yellowjackets seemdd to be the best of the bunch.
Conditions were sunny with no wind. The target was set at 25 meters. I will conduct more testing at longer distance( this was just a sight in) The best 5 rnd group I got was

I am happy with the Marlin. I will testing it on the gophers within two weeks. ;)

My second rifle is a MP-161K with a Bushnell Eotech. Excellent rifle. light points nice. The brass was ejected 20 feet to the right. It does not like the Yellowjackets rnds. Dynapoints were no issue. Not oen FTF or FTE. The yellowjackets where every 3-4 rnds were crushed by the bolt and powerfull spring (FTF) Best group standing not bench rested was. ( the group to the right of the target in the white)

Here s picture of the rifles together. I will redo my testing later this week. Yes the pictures arent the best but I am learning as I go.

I had a 795 to. I think the 7000 has a slight edge. Both are great rifles no question there. You can actually adapt a 10/22 barrel to go on the 795. I was thinking of trying it with a carbon fiber barrel.
