Hi my fellows brothers in arms,
I did go spend the new year in Romania,at Bucarest more precisely, took a short trip outside Bucarest to visit the Peles and Bran castle and back in town, i had to go visit the Military museum. I can say that its very big,the main exhibit was closed for renovations but visiting the outside yard with cannons and variious vehicules, the aviation exhibit and the weapons exhibit, where we can see various weapons from the medieval ages until today was pure awesomeness! My visit lasted 3 hours and i took over 300 pictures until my battery died DOH! I couldnt photograph alls the artillery pieces that where exposed outside but i did the vehicules, the weapons and planes exposition. The vehicules had snow on them but still worth to take pictures. I wont put all the pics but here's a sample of what can be seen there. Hope you will like:)

In front of the museum, there's fews artillery pieces and a BMP 1 troop carrier.

In the back yard, there's a railgun, fews tanks, trucks, artilery pieces.

Now fews tanks and vehicules. Most of them have a little description but was missing on the german halftrack and the T-34 tank.

German halftrack

A radar station

Anti aircraft gun caliber 85mm

Command vehicule

Fews more tanks and a S.A.M

More vehicules.

Training plane and a chopper

The description was missing on that one but look like a tank destroyer.

A mig 15 jet

More artillery.

The weapons exposition. From swords and axes to modern firearms.

The next 4 pictures are firearms from the personnal collection of former president Nicolae Ceausescu.

Now the planes exhibit.

I plan returning there next year so i wil go again.:) Hope you loved the little tour.

Awesome post, thanks for sharing.
Not every day you see a Villar Perosa, or a nice looking KAR 88.

Very nice. You need to go back when there is no snow and get some good pics of that Marder with the Russian 76.2mm gun. That's an fairly uncommon tank destroyer to say the least.

Would also be nice to get more info on those sabers. I wonder if any are Polish? Polish units crossed over into Rumania in 1939 to regroup then were interned by the Rumanians. Did you notice any Polish mausers in the museum? Looks like they have a Polish BAR.

Yes i saw a polish mauser, i wanted to took pics of all descriptions and all weapons there but i had to rush because my battery was very low. I didnt expect to take so manys pictures there. Next time i will have 1 or 2 spare battery. I can only go there in xmas holiday, usually, there's no snow at Bucarest or very very little but around xmas, they had some so that's why the vehicules were covered. I could easily take 150 more pics there and if the main exhibit was opened, lots more pics. Its my mission to return there next year, so so so much to see!

Thanks for sharing the great pictures. My goal for this year is to visit some more museums. First will be a trip to Calgary to visit the Military Museum

Enjoyed this. I drove a big clockwise circuit around Romania in 1975...Bucharest west to Tirgu-Jiu then north over the Transylvanian Alps all the way up through Cluj to the Maramures country, then east over the Tartar Pass into Moldavia and back down again. It was still a communist country under Ceausescu in those days. I saw a lot of guns, tanks, and fighter planes but they were all in relatively active service.
