I found a Weatherby catalog from 1993 in a pile of other "treasures" (or junk, depending on who you ask).

And what did I see...the .250 Savage Whitetail Deluxe Limited Edition. It has a "miniature version of our Mark V, with six locking lugs and a 22" #1 contoured barrel". It has hand checkering with rosewood forend tip and grip cap, "smooth damascend bold and follower; hand checkered bolt knob" and it weighs 6lbs.

Why didn't I get one then? Does anyone have one? Has anyone even seen one?

What a great little deer rifle that would be for a youth, woman or any hunter for that matter who knows you don't really NEED more than a well placed shot from the venerable .250/3000 to anchor even the biggest buck.

I read a review for this rifle in Petersons "Hunting" when they came out, they were built on the Varmintamster action same as the 224 Weatherby, and IIRC the rifle reviewed was one of two that had been built at the time, and was being sold after the writer had written the article (they asked him to shot factory loads only, no handloads). I'm not sure if they ever actually got to market. I'll check to see if I can find the article.
