A small group of us were at the range last night, and one brought a chrono to test some loads.

After farting around a bit getting it working, he shot his test rounds and then asked if anyone else wanted to chrono anything.
I had my recently acquired Webley Mk6 with me, so I said yes.

Fiocchi factory ammo, 6 rounds. Average = 635fps, and at 255gr, that gives me a PF of 161. Good enough for major in IPSC Open Division!!

What kind of a red-dot should I mount on it? :p

I toyed with running a S & W 2nd model in 455 Webley in a local run 'n gun. The reload time was just a killer, or else I would have. Took it out for a couple of practice sessions before going with a Steyr-Hahn

If you are careful you can disassemble and ream out an HKS 25 speedloader to accept .455 Webley rounds. I'd post a pic but i don't have any .455 loaded up at the moment. Works for my Webley and see no reason why it wouldn't work for a S&W as well. I did mine using w&d sandpaper but an adjustable reamer would be better.

HKS speedloader (in this case, the 29-M for .44Mag/.44Spl) with .455 rounds -

The "Mark I" rounds in the image above are loaded in cases formed from .45 Colt brass (with the rims thinned from the front - and these speedloaders work fine straight out of the package with that type of case, because of the narrow rim-diameter of the .45 Colt case.

As stated, reaming out is necessary for the greater rim diameter of the true .455 case (about .530" as opposed to about .512" on the .45 Colt) and perhaps the 25-M loader would be a little easier to ream out sufficiently, because it is made for the .45AR cartridge, which has a .516 rim diameter ...

A 17/32drill bit = .53125" which is pretty close to that. I got a couple of adjustable reamers from Victor Tool Supply (?) on Amazon.com which weren't all that expensive as I recall, although that was when the Cdn. dollar was ot par, plus I have a US shipping address. You certainly don't need industrial grade to ream out plastic. I recall having to take the pins out of the loader and remove the knob & shaft to ream mine out.

Certainly a heck of a lot cheaper than trying to find a Prideaux loader!

5starfirearms company makes speed loaders that work perfectly with .455 MK II Webley 262gr lrn ammo.

I believe it was the .410 loader model but I would email technical support and confirm. Nothing but good
things to say about the company... they even offered to take it back if I was not happy with the fit.

Cheers,

Open division is not 175. You are thinking Production and Standard.

Open division shoots 9mm and 38 supper that has no chance in hell of hitting 175 safely.
