I've owned my LRB for just over a year and thought it was time to actually let people know what I think.

The take away message for those who just want to read the short version is that I most strongly recommend the LRB to anyone who wants a quality M14 rifle. Real strengths are: ease of scope mounting, overall build quality and accuracy. I guess the main downside would be price.

For those who like a longer read you can check out my review at:

Very nice cheek rest! For that rise, you really need a high one. And that one fits the bill! Where did you get it?

It's in the blog review :) Just kidding - it is the Coyote M1A ( just google it ) and he is a member here on CGN. Real good guy out of Coquitlam BC

Excellent write-up and spot on! I have two LRB's now; an M14SA and an M25. I have the exact same barrel on my other LRB and it shoots great! Not as good as my Wolfe 5R barrel on my M25, but still great nonetheless.

Here's a pet load that works extremely well in my M14SA which has the same barrel yours has:
Speer 125gr TNT
Winchester cases
WLR or Rem 9-1/2 primers
45.0 grains of IMR-4895
COL: 2.700" to 2.750"

This load will definitely cycle the action reliably in that LRB of yours. I just tried it in my M25 with a vented gas piston and it still cycled the action. That load will work great in a no-wind environment, producing sub-MOA results out to 300 yards.

Here's another for the heavier bullets
168gr SMK, Nosler CC or Hornady 168gr
42.8gr IMR-4064
Winchester commercial cases
WLR or Rem 9-1/2 primer
COL: 2.812"

Those who have never owned an LRB will most likely never understand how smooth an action can be until you handle one. You just can't explain it. I haven't handled a JRA yet, but I'm working on it. Also, the finish work on the exterior of the receiver is very important to the home builder who beds their own rifle. The smooth surfaces where the bedding contacts the receiver make it easier to remove the stock from the action without scraping bedding material out of the stock.

Tony.

Thanks for that load data Tony. You are so right about the smoothness of the action !

How high of a pad is that Coyote you have. I am just looking into ordering a couple. One for my M14.ca mounted Norc, and one for my Arms mounted M1a NM. Great review. Have to save for an LRB to add to the flock. :)

Tomochan.... it's guys like you (and reviews like these) that pushed me over the edge. I cannot leave out Thomas 45acpking out of the mix. You guys convinced me to sell all my other M1A and Norinco rifles; and then purchase one of the these fine LRB M25 platforms.

You guys rock! :p

I figured life is too short to do without one of these. It's the last M14 type rifle I'm ever gonna need. Now the LRB travels with me to all the M14 clinics. :) Hey, I got one in Kingston this coming weekend.... Sunday 26 April!! :dancingbanana:

Cheers and keep on helping them nooobies out there!

yup when I handled an LRB rifle for the first time (and fixed for cgn member "unlistedhandle" ) back in 2007 , I knew I was holding something special, despite the out of the box issues the rifle needed looking at.
then over the years since , building many LRB rifles from receiver up for various CGN members, I began yearning for one of my own.
that day came a little over a year ago.

for guys wanting the best their hard earned money can buy tho, LRB deserves a very serious look. I do recommend getting a rifle built at LRB vs having one built here from parts.

Yeah you too, giwolf; you are also to blame for hooking me into the LRB fold. After I felt your LRB up in Fort MakeMoney, I knew the LRB was in the cards somewhere down the road. :)

Cheers and keep on helping them noobs out there!

For real, Barney?
No more Norinco love?

I was thinking the same thing.

My #### just fell off, out of sheer disappointment.
