= BAD IDEA!
I got myself some A-Zoom .22LR dummy rounds for feeding/cycling/ejection exercises in my Ruger SR22 as I needed to "adjust" the lips on one of my BC Steel Lips 25 rounds magazines (the sharp leadiing edge kept jamming the action and needed some filing) and it was a mistake to use them inside that particular mag.
Anything over 8 rounds would get stuck and it is painfully obvious that the A-Zoom dummies (the blue aluminum ones) are not the same size as a regular 22LR round and they do not feed/sit in the mag the right way. I had a hell of a time, I repeat : A HELL OF A TIME getting them out. Which is a bummer, because this is what they are supposed to be for
There are no problems with the follower spring or anything like that when regular rounds are loaded/unloaded from the magazine -they snap right in and out.
The A-Zoom dummies (by Patchmyer) work fine in my SIG P226 22lr magazines, but Butler Creek is a no-no. I think the size/weight/shape discrepancy compounds with the number of rounds used, and it ends up being an epic fail.
Just in case you want to try it at home - I don't recommend it!
On the other hand, the 9mm snap-caps from the same company are excellent and work like a charm but are obscenely expensive.
