I am a bit tired of my cheap collapsible out-of-the-box buttstock on my AR; it's a bit wobbly and is too short even when fully extended. I'd actually just like to replace it with an A2 stock, a long one if there are different sizes.

Where might I find something like that new? Do I actually need the guts out of it, or can I take the bits out of the collapsible one that I have?

A2 stocks SHOULD have all the parts, but make sure it has:
- an A2 buffer tube
- stock (obviously)
- stock screw (attaches A2 stock to the rifle buffer tube)
- rifle length buffer
- rifle length spring

again, pretty sure all the A2 kits have all the parts. - after a quick check of Questar's website, the 55 buck one has ONLY the stock, the one with all the parts is like 130 ( for the RRA A2 stock)

ETA after another quick check, Arms East has a complete assembally (stag) for 69 bucks:

You will need a rifle buffer tube, a rifle buffer and spring, an A2 stock, an A2 stock spacer and an A2 Butt stock screw.

Arms East should have a pile of them lying around.

I got mine from P&D in edmonton, They were brand new take off from bushmasters, I it for 25$ complete with everything, Not sure if they still have any this was about a year ago

I got mine at Arms East.

Got mine from Wolverine, also love my Magpul prs, also from Wolverine. I find I prefer the fixed stock, even on my shorty, since the collapsable one was never collapsed anyway.

No, no, no - you must have a collapsible butt stock or you just aren't with it. Magpul at least if not something more exotic. :D

Actually I take that back. The fixed butt stock goes well with those iron sights you insist on using......and damn near beating me with on the last CQB as I recall.....hmmmmmm.;)

I have a couple of C2 stocks, some are regular length and some have an S inside a larger C.
I found them in a crate of parts along with the forestocks (C7 style) and a set of Triangular handguards.
I need a couple of short and long screws to attach the stocks to the tubes. In the same crate I found an older heavy C8 three position stock complete with spring and buffer.
