Hello all!!

I was wondering if you all could help a brother out.

I have an IOR M2 4x24 With the MP9 reticule that I would realy like to use in a build. In oder to get the proper eye releif and still have Irons for back up, I need to use an A2 style recvier. I would also like to use quad rail Free Float tube for all the benifits that will bring. I have 2 - 16 barrels I could use, one is a heavy profile with a sight tower, and the other is gov't profile, with a low profile gas block.

As this is my first A2 build, I was wondering if those of you who have worked with the A2 reciver could show me pictures of your builds, as well commets of the various perks and quirks of thoes builds.

Thx ever so much and I really appreciate all the help and tolerance.

regards and all the best

AbH

with a scope the BUIS should be under the rear bell of the scope, with troy or an arms 40L you should be able to do that no problem on an A4 upper.... even if you have to goto a larue 1.93SPR to get the extra height.

mounting it on an a2 upper creates to many problems in my book, scope to high above the bore, having to raise your head to get sight alignment etc....

just don;t do it....

Not sure why you say you need to use an A2 upper. Wouldn't a flattop with cantilever mount enable you to do what you want to do?

The only time I'd consider using any kind of optic on an A2 or A1 upper is if it were for a red dot mounted to a free float handguard or gooseneck mount.

Leg:

The scope in question has about 3" of eye releif (not a lot). On a flat top this optic needs a riser that allows it to sit all the way back, and is more or less on top of the charge handle. Further the carbine stock pretty well nees to be set at its shortest adjustment. No mater how I configured it, I could not figure out how to use both the optic, and have BUIS.

I always like a secondary sighting sytem, thus I came to the A2 Receiver.

I would love to use a flat top, however, if there is some thing I have not considered I would love to hear it.

Perhaps at the end of the day, I will just have to use this optic on a flat top with out BUIS.

Ok, I see where your coming from. I have the same problem with an Elcan, I mount it back too far to use a folding BUIS. Instead I just mount the issued backup sight in front of my scope, but I believe that your scope would be too long for that.

What about one of the D&L CQB sights mounted to a free float handguard?

ARMS 40L sight under the scope in a Larue 1.93 mount as mentioned should work fine.

I have a Leupold Mk4 1.5 -5 mounted this wayand it works just fine.

I've got pics at home some where.......

I will check that ling out shortly, for what its worth, this is what the optic and its reticule look like. My resarch show that the glass quality is in line with some very high end optics, hence the reason I want to use it. ( I have removed the eye cup)

The only way you're going to make THAT scope work on A1/A2 top is with an ARMS #2 "extended" scope mount like the following:

You should be able to get away with a regular #2 mount, but the extended #2 mount gives you more play.

I think Colt mounted their rubber 3x9 scopes this way on their Delta Hbars.

Whichever way, you're not going to get the scope to co-witness your A1/A2 irons. One thumb screw isn't difficult to spin off if you need you irons.

... but you know how I feel about scopes on A1 uppers, don't you. :D

What are you going to do. So many choices, eih? :)

Easy:

I have that mount, or atleast a reaonable copy, and belive it or not there see through portion of that mount wich allows one to see the Iron sights. Thats why I wanted to use it. Allows the use of optics and Irons.

Thanks for asking. The photo is ripped from somewhere for reference.

I do have that exact optic on a different carbine. 733 clone.

I just bought a 14.5" barrel from AbHobbyist to complete another retro Colt clone upper and I'll be using the Colt 4x20 on both. That's as far as I go with optics on A1 uppers.
