Hey so I wanted to put a clamshell hand guard on my jr carbine with an a2 barrel mounted front sight. I was going to install a delta ring with standard barrel nut and the 12 inch clamshell with end cap to find the spacing for where the sight should go. I was wondering if anyone had a way to install the front sight without using the taper pin method I was hoping to keep the barrel as unmarred as possible. I've seen a couple things about set screws and dimples as well as set screws without dimples - not sure how the latter would hold. Does anyone have any other thoughts?

There's a few videos on YouTube where the guys drilled up through the bayonet lug and underneath the swivel and threaded it, and put set screws in
