I put a scope I took off my SKS before I sold it. ITs a Tasco 4x, don't remember the model #.

I got a carrying handle scope rail adapter and placed it on top of my Colt AR-A2 upper.

Had it at the range yesterday and it was clearly shooting the ground 4 feet in front of the target at 25m trying to Zero. Could not get it to hit the paper. Figured that 25m Zeroing was not going to work so I was trying to hit anything at the 100m. When I benched it and looked throw the iron sights the scope was clearly about 2 feet or more above where the irons (Which are Zero'd) were aiming. I couldn't seem to adjust the elevation to bring them down enough.

Anyone have any ideas? is it the scope, or maybe the carrying handle adapter has a bad angle to it? Anyone have success running a scope on top of a carrying handle?

Thanks

If you can get it off the carry handle and onto a flat top do it. That will assist some of your over bore issues.

Do a rough boresight first. Take the upper off, line the bore up on something promenant, (the further the better) and allign the scope to that point, while keeping the upper steady.
That should get you on paper at 25.

Remember your MOA conversion when shooting @ 25. Every 1 MOA @ 100M click is going to make it into 4 clicks at 25 M.
Check your tightness on all your screws, then put a level on the front handguard, note the position of the bubble, then place it atop the optic, there should not be a huge difference.
Could be the carry handle angle, could not be, who knows. Get it off the carry handle if you can, as they are almost impossible to set a consistent cheek weld with the optics so high off the bore.

A Colt A2 upper has an integral carry handle, no ?

I would assume that if one wanted to mount a scope on an AR they would remove the handle if they could.

ya the handle is non removable unfortunately. Or that would fix my issue.

This is what I have

I'll do that level test. I wonder if its the carrying handle adapter rail causing issues. its a no name brand so could be out of spec.

some are some arent. It depends on some manufacturers versions of "a2" could simply be a fixed butt and 20" barrel.

some people mount the optic to a removable carry handle anyway, and its kinda silly.

the OP's is non-detach now that I see it, so he's pooched.

the level may look fine, but your poi may still be off, its just an idea. Boresight that sucker and you should be at least on paper at 25.
