So a while ago I picked up a Beretta 1301 semi auto and it came with extra shims to offset the butt stock. Now the 1301 is a 3 gun model and it came with the extra shims.

Last week (after 8 months on order) I received an A400 Parallel Target and guess what? No stock shims.

How does a guy follow that logic huh? The 3 gun model comes with a set of extra stock shims but the Parallel Target model comes with only one.

So ya, I set up behind the gun and I'm totally looking down on it. It obviously needs different shims. So the shims in it are 40 offset and I have one from the 1301 that's a 60 offset and I put that in it, but it's still not enough. The gun shoots way high and left.

I'm hoping 80 offset shims will be enough to get me right behind the gun, but I've not been able to find them for sale anywhere.

Do you guys know where I could find some?

So I took the 65 offset spacer from the 1301 which I'm told is the most offset spacer they make and I put it into the A400. Guess what.... it still shoots high... and a hair left.
So ya, I am in a state of disbelief that Beretta would put out a gun like this. It's not like I have a head like a bowling ball. I have a typical build and a fairly slim face.

I found a few posts on other web sites complaining about the same problem with the A400.
Is this maybe a trap thing where you must float the bird two feet.?

This weekend I'm going to see if I can switch the butt stock from the 1301 to the A400 and see if that makes any difference.
If that works, I'm getting the file out.

A friend bought the same gun last year and had the same problem the gun shot probably 80/20 . he ended up trading it for the regular a400 excel .

Can't you adjust your cheekweld? Whatever your sight picture is down the rib, get the stock higher on your face. The sight picture will change down the rib, and your PoI will also change.

That's the point. You can only get so low. Short of looking from the side or breaking my cheek bone I'm not getting any lower.

The butt stock is just too high.

I'd try Stoeger or Rich Cole to see if additional shims are available. The next option would be to find a sporting stock which is a little lower or take a file to the PT stock and get it refinished.
