I've been patiently waiting for browning to release a 20 gauge in the new A5. It's been out now for around ten years still no 20. Anyone have any insight.
 
Introduced in 2012 and hit the market in 2013 . I do not think they were the hit Browning was hoping for . So they are probably in no rush to produce a 20ga model . My self. I have been hoping for a scaled to gauge 20ga Maxus hunter model .
 
It’s an inertia operated shotgun based on an antiquated Italian design and is overpriced for what it is. There are dozens of option on the market that are just as good for half or less money using the same inertia system so Browning really has nothing to gain by scaling it down to 20ga dimensions. Browning would have better success with the Maxus platform in a 20ga and also a 28ga but they need to get the price down at least 20% for either one to sell in volume.

Yeah, it's in a tough spot where guys that don't want to fork out for a Benelli tend to want as cheap as possible, so it's kind of in a no man's land price point. Then you have the "THAT'S NOT A REAL A5!!!" crowd, which they clearly hoped to recapture. Personally, I had a 3 inch A5 and regret selling it.
 
I have a newer A5 and quite like it for pheasants. It is light to carry, and much more responsive for upland than my Maxus or Silver.

I would also look forward to Browning coming out with a 20 gauge A5. Many years ago had an Auto 5 mag, still regret letting it go towards something bigger and ?? Better.

They probably aren't wrong. It probably would have a hard go to compete with the benelli M2 as a direct price point rival not to mention the Franchi Affinity and Weatherby Element for a lesser price. They offer a recoil operated action for those who are afraid to clean modern gas operated guns. The 16 gauge has a cult following that modern 20's seem to lack. Don't get me wrong I think the A5 in a 20 would offer a lot, but most folks looking for a 20 aren't going to be as swayed by a nod to yesteryear with Browning's humpbacked benelli knock off at its price point.
