A5 mag cap tightness?

Anyone here shoot a Browning A5?

A Browning A5 owner on another site says I should tighten the mag cap to snug then back it off several clicks so as to not put too much tension the the thin forearm wood.

Any thoughts?

i've always snugged mine down , then let the barrel come back up into position.never had any problems.

I always make sure the cap on mine is tight.

If it is difficult to remove I have used an old leather belt wrapped around the outside. This really aids in the removal & does not mar the finish.

It's in compression, by the way, not tension. But I do the same, just tighten to 'snug' with the barrel pushed in slightly. And then check it occassionally through a round of skeet.

I tighten mine to snug then back off one click.
