Hey folks, Ive got a question regarding non-resident draws in Alberta. I live in BC but have family in Alberta and head back to the ancestral homeland every year to hunt whitetails. Usually the only draw I put in for is Non-resident Trophy Sheep, just to build some priority so that hopefully by the time I'm 90 I can draw the tag. I don't put in for any other draws because they need to be group hunts with a resident, and I don't want to negatively effect the odds of my cousins drawing their tags. Recently though I've been questioning if that's how it works, so let me run through a little scenario and someone tell me if I'm understanding this correctly.
If I put in for an Antlered Mule Deer tag as a non-resident, and I add my cousin Jimmy to the group so that I can apply, this also counts as his Antlered Mule Deer application, right? From there, if Jimmy has 4 points, and I have 1, and the points to draw the tag are 3, we won't draw the tag until I reach the required 3 points?
Or, do I just need cousin Jimmy on my group application and he's free to put in his own individual application and draw his own mule deer tag?
I've always assumed scenario 1, but recently have been questioning my assumptions and haven't had any luck finding the answers on the interwebs.
Thanks for your help friends.
