So I got the date for the first steel challenge match! Very exciting news and will be a ton of fun

We will be running 4 official stages in the morning and 4 in the afternoon, so it will be a full steel challenge match. The only difference from any match in the states is we may have to have the targets at the minimum 10 yards specified by the BC CFO but we are working on that so hopefully they will be 100% accurate.

The match is June 2nd and will start at 10am which means registration goes from 9-9.45 and the match will go till dusk/everyone is done shooting (if you can show up at 8am for setup that would be much appreciated). The match free is $15 for your first gun and $10 for your second. Because this is the first match and we aren't sure about the turn out or time to get everyone through it will be limited to 2 guns for everyone, for future matches hopefully we will be able to get 3 guns for everyone. You can shoot the same gun twice but only in different divisions, no shooting the same gun in the same division twice.

Divisions are:
IPSC+USPSA Production
IPSC+USPSA Limited/Standard
IPSC+USPSA Open
Rimfire Iron Sights + no comp.
Rimfire Open
Rimfire Carbine
Pistol Caliber Carbine

All rimfire is .22lr only and no magnum (this includes 10mm) or wildcat pistol cartridges

5 mags or speed loaders will be required for the match as well as a holster or gun bag to move your pistol to and from the line for safety. If you do not have the mags or speed loaders please email me and i will do what i can to help. there will also be a safety area for gunning up/down where no ammo is allowed (you will be disqualified from the match if you are found handling live ammo/snap caps/brass/loaded mags in the safe area.

And the fun part, Sponsors/Prizes
I have a few sponsors lined up already and will be updating this list as more are added, but here is the list so far

500 rds 124gr 9mm bullets for random draw
500 rds 124gr 9mm bullets for random draw

Weird for your CFO to make match rules. Hope they consider that bullet splash happens from plate design and not distance from shooter.

I'll help with anything you guys need and bring some prizes as well.

Not a match rule per say but an over riding range policy by the CFO. Steel challenge is helping us to prove to them its safe so i have high hopes

If you're discussing it with them, let them know that both cowboys and steel challenge shoot lower velocity loads and 7 yards is considered safe. IPSC is the only pistol sport that I know of that has a 10 yard rule.

The date for the match was not thought out.
TMSA is having there Steel shoot the same day.

Maybe you should think of having it on the 3rd instead of the 2nd.

The TMSA Guys went out of there way to get advanced dates out so people could plan. You might want to respect that. Or Not.

In the shooting sports end of it, We should be working together promoting other clubs matches and the guys putting it on. Not competeing with them on where to shoot. ABBY or TMSA????

June----------
TMSA Speed Steel--------2nd
MDRGC--Bianchi Cup Match--9th
Kelowna IPSC fun match------10th (not local)
MDRGC Speed Steel---------16th
Lone Butte Redneck Match--16th and 17th (not local)

Brennan made a point of looking for that info, it was only from just looking at Thompson now that I see they have a match that day. Sunday is not available as there is already a regularly scheduled match happening at the Abby that prevents us from having the match on the 3rd. Now that the date is board approved, and no meetings of the Board before the match the date can't be changed.
With IPSC, Mission and other related matches happening, it's going to be hard to schedule these things without a common calendar of events.

OH Well DUDE.

That's all I can say. I will not be able to make
Your guy match due to prior commitments to
Shoot the TMSA match.

I guess I will be off your Leaderboard for that match.

Tim won't mind that too much, beat ya later Tim.

ah crap, i must have read the news page on thompson mountain wrong because i was trying to do it around everyone elses matches and thought the 2nd worked. Will double check more for july since i would like everyone to shoot all the matches, but it ma end up being a choice just due to the shear number of clubs and shoots that happen unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it)

sundays are not currently available because other clubs use them so for at least this year matches will be saturday for this year at abby.

anyone interested in doing 2 days of Steel Challenge in July right before IPSC Nats? Abby IPSC has decided to not run our Qualifier in July (no people stepped up to help), so we are giving the Sunday to Steel Challenge. This could be a huge match if enough people are interested.

If I physical feel up to it, I will be out to shoot on Saturday. If not shooting, I will at least show up as a spectator for awhile. I will be in much better shape by the time of the next match in July?
