Morning,
I have a problem rifle and am hoping for direction.
It is a Mossberg Model 342KC in .22 LR..
The problem is if you #### the bolt, you can fire the rifle with the bolt handle still up.
I am wondering if this is a problem common to this model,or if my particular gut needs work.
The bolt can not be removed easily, so I want to know if I need a gunsmith or can tackle it myself.I have worked on guns without problems before, but I can't see very far inside this one.
Thanks' in advance,
Ken

Mossberg 342ka takedown and reassembly, might be hard to find on video as this guy claims there are only two videos.

I do not have experience taking this gun apart , but as trebor2880 mentioned a quick search(.65 seconds) resulted in 17,500+ results.
Hope this gives you some insight to your gun before you take it to a gunsmith...or offers some usefull info should you proceed to a gunsmith.
Either way hope you correct your unsafe condition and save the gun.

Do you mean that the hammer will drop when the trigger is pulled, bolt handle up?
It shouldn't fire - there should be a cam track in the bolt handle collar that will prevent the firing pin from going forward.

Tiriaq is correct. If the bolt is up the gun should not be able to fire. If the bolt is being turned down while the trigger is pulled it will release the sear as in uncocking the gun. The bolt should have to be turned down to have enough energy to fire the shell.
Scott...

Thanks' guys. To be honest , I had not googled it yet. I was more interested if it was a specific problem with this gun, or one with the model in general. I will try to use google more in the future.
Thank you for the direction,
Ken
